With custom mattress sizes depths vary widely among manufacturers. It's important to measure the depth of your mattress before purchasing a goose down comforter. Standard and older mattresses average 9 inches to 12 inches deep, while newer, pillow-top mattresses are 14 inches to 16 inches deep or even deeper.
