The quality of goose down varies dramatically. Besides country of origin,and name brand bedding the inferior goose down might have been collected from geese that were too young, or the down might have been cleaned carelessly or with too harsh a chemical. Sometimes the filling includes too many feathers, although duck feathers (included in some down products) are very small and tend to be soft. High quality doesn't necessarily translate to high price, however.
